Active Scientix Collections
Scientix Collections are grouped under broad topics, with different focuses developed within each category. New focuses and collections will be added in the future, giving schools more opportunities to find relevant resources and implement whole-school plans on specific topics.
Each Collection Focus comes with its own expertise recognition and badge, which are awarded to schools that complete five resources within a single focus, involving at least three subjects and the collaboration of more than one teacher from the same school.
Currently, the following Collections and Focuses are available:

➥ Environmental Sustainability Collection
The Environmental Sustainability Collection is a comprehensive selection of high-quality, STEM-focused teaching materials related to all aspects of sustainability in education. It brings together resources that cover environmental topics, sustainability competences, and EU frameworks such as GreenComp, DigComp, and LifeComp, making it easier for teachers to explore, navigate, and implement sustainability learning at all levels of formal education. The Collection includes lesson plans, activities, and interactive resources, with tools to filter by age, subject, and specific competences.
▼ Sustainable School Action ▼ Read more
The Sustainable School Action resources focus specifically on practical, actionable ways schools can integrate sustainability into everyday teaching and learning. These resources guide teachers in implementing hands-on projects, collaborative activities, and school-wide initiatives that encourage students to apply sustainability competences in real-life contexts. They are designed to be flexible, adaptable, and inspiring, enabling teachers to start small in their classrooms and gradually expand efforts to involve more colleagues, students, and school leadership, creating a measurable impact on the school community.
About the BUSTIC EDU Project
This Focus was developed as part of the BUSTIC EDU project (“Building Sustainability Competences in Education”), a European initiative led by a consortium of public authorities, Ministries of Education, and NGOs. BUSTIC EDU aims to integrate sustainability competences across all levels of formal education through innovative pedagogical approaches, teaching materials, and teacher training. For more information, visit their page here.

➥ Citizen Science Collection
Citizen science engages students and teachers in real scientific research, allowing them to collect data, make observations, and contribute to science while connecting classroom learning with real-world societal challenges.
The Citizen Science Collection brings together curated STEM resources such as learning scenarios, toolkits, games, and classroom activities, that support primary and secondary schools in implementing citizen science. These materials help students take part in authentic inquiry, collaborate with external actors, and develop scientific, digital, and civic competences.
The Collection supports educators and school leaders in integrating citizen science into classroom practice and whole-school STEM strategies.
▼ EU Missions 2030 ▼ Read more
The EU Missions 2030 Collection focuses on the EU Missions, initiatives aimed at addressing some of Europe’s most pressing challenges. The missions cover Climate Change Adaptation, Cancer, Healthy Oceans and Seas, Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities and Soil Health. Each mission sets specific targets for 2030, with the goal of creating a greener, healthier, and more resilient Europe.
Citizen science, where members of the public contribute to scientific research often in collaboration with professional scientists, plays a key role in these efforts. It supports activities ranging from local data collection to raising awareness and engaging communities. This collection presents over 50 resources from projects aligned with the EU Missions, offering schools and students the opportunity to get actively involved.
About the CROPS Project
CROPS is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project that will help citizen science projects grow and have a greater impact across Europe. The project will identify citizen science initiatives with the potential to expand their impact across the 5 EU Missions and develop practical tools, protocols, and strategies to support the expansion of these projects. By connecting research with society, CROPS aims to tackle major challenges and contribute to Horizon Europe’s vision of open, impactful innovation.
